As a woman, it’s so easy to get caught up in comparison. Our society’s current reference to beauty is flawless skin and big, full lips.
One day it dawned on me that when women try to fit that mold and make themselves look like the perfect model of beauty, we lose touch with what makes us unique and special.
Personally, I don’t want to look like everyone else. I want to look like the best version of myself.
Our bodies are all different, and they change as we age.
Aging happens every day—it’s impossible to look young forever. And I don’t believe we should be trying to look like we’re still 20. What I do believe in is taking care of your body and skin out of love for yourself, not because you’re afraid of aging.
About 15 years ago, I started to notice that certain areas of my face and body had aged very quickly—because I hadn’t taken care of them for so long.
I’m sharing this not so that you feel pressured to look younger, but so that you will feel empowered to care for your beautiful body!
6 Body Parts that Will Age the Fastest
- Nasal Labial fold lines
- Forehead
- Under your eyes
- Neck
- Decolette – aka, your chest
- Back of hands
AKA, smile lines. We use our mouths more than any other feature of our face. This movement breaks down elasticity in the skin and due to collagen loss, the volume disappears.
The forehead is the largest area of our face that is exposed to damaging sun rays which can cause age spots and over freckling. The skin on the forehead is very thin, therefore does not hold hydration as well which results in lines and wrinkles.
The three problems that eyes incur are puffiness, dark circles, and fine lines.
Puffiness: Inflammation under the eyes due to lack of water intake, poor diet, stress, and poor sleep
Dark Circles: Poor circulation
Fine Lines: Very thin skin that loses elasticity and lacks hydration in the skin, causing “crepey-eyes.”
Very thin skin that wrinkles easily. Interestingly, due to spending a lot of time driving cars on the left side, we can see more sun damage of age spots and wrinkles on the left side of our neck and face.
Be especially mindful of this one. The neck and chest areas are challenging to treat due to how thin the skin is. Sun damage is common as the chest is a large surface, so discoloration in age spots and the thin skin makes it prone to wrinkles.
The tops of hands also have very fine skin and are prone to sun damage. Circulation can be compromised which all result in age spots, fine lines, and wrinkles.
Want to slow down the aging process in these 6 areas?
When I started to really take care of my skin about 15 years ago, I was amazed at how well my body responded. I’ve created an aging journey for myself that’s positive and effective.
My anti-aging journey looks different than most you’ll see out there. Instead of only focusing on skincare products and depending soley on that to make a difference, I’ve also done a lot of inner work. Don’t get me wrong, the right skincare products can do a lot to help repair your skin’s damage and to prevent further aging (I’m excited to share more about that later!). But the beliefs we carry about aging, along with the negative emotions from our pasts, age us very quickly.
On March 15th, I’m leading my Healing Center members through a guided experience of the new Healing Plan for Anti-Aging. This is a brand new offering that you won’t find anywhere else online. It’s powerful, uncovering blocks and programs you’ve been carrying about getting older. As you let them go, you reverse the aging process easily and gracefully.
