  1. I loved this video. Its a great reminder that you don’t need a large wardrobe to look pretty and put together!

  2. Love, love, love, love, love! Perfect timing as always. Although it’s very snowy and cold here in NE, it’s the perfect time to plan ahead for spring and summer. Thank you, Anne, for this awesome video! You guys are always right on target. 🙂

  3. Wow I love this sooo much! It is amazing how many options 25 items can bring. Recently, I’ve been trying to streamline my wardrobe significantly, and I’ve found I’ve got some “missing” basic items, and I’ve got too much of other items. The mix and match idea of using just a few items to create lots of looks is sooo appealing to me! This will be so helpful as I edit my clothing 😀 I *love* the outfits you’ve made. The red/pink multi-colored infinity scarf is one of my favorites and it is extremely versatile. I’ve found it goes with pretty much any outfit in my wardrobe 🙂 That moto jacket from Loft….I’ve been looking for a nice light colored moto jacket for a long time, but haven’t found “the one” yet. Is this one still available? I may need to check it out!

    1. Hi Andrea, I’m so glad you found this video helpful and yes! That scarf is a keeper.
I got the jacket at the Loft Outlet store. If you have one nearby it’s worth checking for one.

  4. I loved your video Anne. I need your help please. I’m assuming I’m a type 1 due to circles in my face, but I don’t like the type 1 clothing. I love the flowing, soft clothing of type 2s. What is the answer for buying clothing since I am confused?

  5. Oh Anne, that navy maxi dress!!!…swoon!!!! Would you mind sharing the brand name of that beauty? This was a wonderfully informative video that I truly enjoyed, thank you!

  6. Anne, this is such a great template for building a wardrobe, really versatile and yet simple. The one thing I’ve never found for myself is a patterned jean that I like. I swear they make my thighs look heavier. But the outfit you put together is so dreamy that I just might try again.

    1. Hi Karen, Thank you! Have you tried a darker pair of patterned pants or a pair that is very low contrast in the pattern vs. the background color? I would try a gray-on-gray (or color on color) pattern so it doesn’t create as much contrast. If the pattern creates a lot of contrast it could draw more attention to your thighs than you prefer.

  7. Anne, I’m a 4/1 so nothing in this works for me…but YOU do! Your attention to detail and how you offer so many options for swapping out pieces in your 5 looks is inspiring. I especially appreciate how you showed the slacks and said “but if you don’t need something this dressy, get a great pair of joggers in their place.” If only I had a T2 daughter. Alas, the T2 in my life is my 11-year-old son and I am always stumped at how to make DYT work for him. He has 1 pair of pants and 2 shirts he will wear. At least they are T2 colors. 🙂

  8. I really enjoyed this video. I am a 2/4 and I recently created a capsule wardrobe for myself. So far I am loving it. One thing that helped me feel better about paring down my wardrobe was to put things away in storage bins that I was not sure about getting rid of…so it didn’t feel too strict. I have been looking for a light blue or chambray button up top…I loved the one in the video that you pared with the taupe sweater. Could you share the brand or where you found it. Thanks: )

    1. Hi Michelle, that top is from the DYT store. I thought it had already been released, but it looks like it will be in the store shortly. In the meantime, we also carry this chambray top that is a more casual version than what I showed: https://shop.liveyourtruth.com/clothing/tops/type-2-charming-chambrey-top.html?___store=type2
I feature this top in my most recent 8 outfits video here: https://my.liveyourtruth.com/dyt/8-items-8-outfits-type-2/

    2. I like the storage bin idea Michelle. Sometimes I think I have too many so-so items that get in the way of making better choices for outfits.

  9. What a great video, I really enjoyed seeing not so basic essentials and how to put them together. I also liked how you showed less is more–I’ve been trying to tell myself I don’t need 5 gray open flowy cardigans. This helps me see that I really don’t. I agree with you, Anne, about giving skinny jeans a try. I was surprised by the comfort they offer and they’re flattering. Adding 1 pair of patterned jeans to my “to look for” list.

  10. Such a great video Anne. I love your attention to detail and use what I learn from you to bring in some secondary 2 to my style. Your outfits are gorgeous and I love how you showed lots of options.

  11. Thank you Anne! I’ve been hoping you would create this kind of video. I also love the 8 items, 8 outfit videos. I need help getting outside of the box. After watching this I realize my wardrobe is a lot bigger than I thought I just really need to get in there and try mixing things up.

  12. I loved this video! I don’t have a ton of money to set up a type 2 wardrobe, so I’ve been a bit lost over what sort of items to start out with. This gave me so much more confidence for the next time I go out shopping!

  13. Thank you for doing this video. I have been hoping for this since I started DYT. I agree that it is good to have options, but having the basics really helps those of us getting started. Although this is my second year, I still don’t have all of these essentials, especially for winter. I loved that coat! Another favorite was the watercolor T-shirt.

  14. Thank you Anne. This is helpful. I would like to see more examples of wardrobe basics that take into account body shape. I am not able to wear layers and pencil skirts in the same way as you are, so perhaps other body type models that show how to accommodate apple or pear shapes? The colors and flow of design and pattern is great to understand better and you do a wonderful job explaining that… 🙂

  15. ooh layer the short sleeve dark tee over the floral top with the light blue sleeves and wear the scar but not the sweater

  16. What a great video! Thank you, Anne. I have a whole new perspective now, having been there with you and seen you in action. What a gift you are giving to all of us!

    1. Elin, this blouse was in the DYT type 2 store some time back. There are times that people do return items. Please check back into the store often to see if we have the same blouse or one similar. Thank you!

  17. Some great choices Ann, thank you. I asked a few Year’s ago but never got a good answer — I LOVE turtlenecks … not cowl, but true turtlenecks, it’s cold in Canada & I love the way it makes my neck look longer, also cozy – I work in sales so am driving to my call & then in stores .. in/out .. all day. I know it’s cold in Utah & States close to the Canada border – whatcha got against t/necks Ann ? ;).

      1. YES .. this is the type of T-neck I like best.. softer, not constricting. Glad to see we’re on the same wavelength ! ;). Thx

  18. I just realised I’ve never commented this video…Well, I’m going to do so now: this is one of my absolute favourites! I love the way you express, Anne, you make me feel relaxed and at home and so happy because you put words to my thoughts! I always end up like “but how does she know what I’m thinking/asking?” 😉
This video, with the 8 outfits series, are a blessing for me: thank you!

  19. I can’t stand having scarves around my neck, I feel suffocated. Are they a must? And I also prefer plain solid colors and t-shirts to a full print and ruffles… is that ok?
