  1. Love your tutorials Michelle!! You are so talented and creative! Thanks for sharing your gifts and knowledge with us all!
I’m a type 2 and have a pair of black suede boots which I’d LOVE to change to be a charcoal grey…but you mentioned going from a dark to light won’t really work…. any ideas on that?

    1. If you want to keep the integrity of the suede then I really have no suggestions, unfortunately. I actually experimented and tried to cover a pair of black suede shoes with the gray dye for this video but there was no change at all. You can always try to do a paint wash (paint and water) but the leather will be left feeling stiff.

  2. Hello Michelle! Thank you for this tutorial, I have had some gray angelius suede dye in my amazon cart for two month now because I have a pair of short brown suede boots that I would like to dye. I feel pretty comfortable moving forward with this job and I WILL clean them first. I bought a suede cleaner at a show store last winter. It has a white like eraser, I would say it’s comparable to the mr clean white block eraser with a store’s cleaning supplies and a stiff brush. I havent used it yet but I will get to soon.

  3. I dyed a pair of grey suede booties shortly after I started DYT. I used the Angelus dye, used a good sealer as well. The dye rubbed off onto the inside of my jeans. Those booties have been tossed and replaced.

  4. Thank you Amanda! I bought it last year at Target. The brand is Knox Rose, but it doesn’t look like it is available anymore online.

      1. Barely. I’m going to spray one more time up and down and sideways. Inside on the ridges as well. They look more purple than the burgundy they really are, interesting. Personally it if did rub off it personally would fine with it, it’s just adding to my t3ness.

  5. So I had these very comfortable black suede shoes. They fit so well, I was reluctant to part with them. First I tried painting little silver stars on them, with silver tole paint and textile medium. The stars weren’t crisp enough for my Type 1 taste, so I tried overpainting with pastel. Something wasn’t quite right. Then I bought 32 clear plastic floral stickers, and they stuck to the stars beautifully. I hope they hold up! I look forward to wearing them!

  6. Hi! I’m wondering for T1’s would painting our shoes white first help so the color we choose will be more true?

    1. Karla, you can certainly do that, but then you will lose the integrity of the suede, and it won’t be soft anymore. Doing that for leather shoes would be ideal though.
