Dig Into Type 3 Purses With Us!

Pull up a seat! Today’s a unique chance to dig into the corners of my purse.
On this #UpCloseandPersonal episode of #CarolTuttleTV, I’m joined on camera by two dynamic Type 3 women—and our substantial purses.

See how the items we carry reflect different life stages (mom with babies, empty nester, and right in the middle), and why there’s one thing we ALL carry because of our on-the-go Type 3 nature.

Plus, catch Jen’s story at the end to hear the journey of discovering her secondary Energy Type. If you’re in that process, some of her clues may help you!

  1. Thank you for this great and fun video! If not else, my choice of purses would confirm my type 😀 Just kidding but I recognized myself in this a lot. Love Carol’s ripped jeans, I wear and love them too (but get lots of funny comments that gets answered right away!). I loved to hear Jen’s story (helped me a lot) and also I would love to see more of her great style! All of you T3 ladies are a great inspiration but the more the better!

  2. Great session on purses! I definitely am the more organized type 3 as I would not have one of the “bottomless pit” purses 🙂 ! If I were to have a large tote bag style I would absolutely have to invest in a purse organizer insert. There are many of these on the market now in several sizes and styles. The other advantage of this for my practical type 3 side is that when changing purses you only have to transfer the insert from one bag to another – no more digging and sorting through the contents and possibly forgetting somethng you need in the first purse!

Also glad to hear more about secondary types. I also am having trouble determining if I am a secondary 2 or 4. I, like Jen and Sarah, am definitely attracted to a look that is a little more flowing, more scarves, longer necklaces, etc… The highly structured, stripes, color blocks, parallel lines and so on of the type 4 style do not appeal to me. However, the comfort aspect which is so big for a type 2 is really not important for me, neither is the nostalgic aspect of holding on to items from the past, or connecting the dots relationally. I feel like I have a lot more personality traits of a type 4, tendancy towards black and white thinking, very analytical and logic oriented. So my journey of discoverong my secondary is still ongoing…!

p.s. Carol, I LOVE your blouse! Will it be in the dyt store soon or is it your own purchase?

  3. OMG I laughed so hard at this!
I cannot believe how much you type 3’s carry around! But seriously, every Type 3 I know has a purse just like all you ladies do! I am always shocked when I pick up a Type 3 friend’s purse, because it weighs 20 lbs at least!!!

  4. This is great. I can so relate to this video. I always have granola bars or something in my purse. I can go from not hungry to “I could eat a horse” in .5 seconds, and it isn’t pretty. (Also, hypoglycemic.) Finding a really great purse and keeping it for 10 years is totally my style, too. I want one I love, and don’t really want to take time to search for another one that is as good as the old one. Also, Carol’s wallet is spot on. Large enough for all of those little things you need, but not too thick.

    1. Like Carol, I am also a secondary 4, and like things a little separated and easier to find. If I have to get a new purse, I will search around forever to find the perfect one.

  5. So I have to say that I was still waffling just the tiniest of bits as to whether or not I’m a type 3 and I think this episode clinched it for me. My kids call my bag a “Mary Poppins” bag and my oldest daughter will ask if I have something in my purse with every confidence that I will have it in there, lol. I used to carry food around in my purse until circumstances made finding on the go food to fit my dietary needs kind of hard. Carol’s large water bottle had me laughing as well, because I have a 64 oz black water bottle I will fill up and drink from throughout the day because who wants to keep filling up a water bottle? Thanks for posting this video.

    1. I also think I’m a secondary 4 as I have a purse organizer I use so that I can find my things even if I can’t look. I know by feel where things are to be found. Before I bought my purse organizer, I had my things in plastic bags.

  6. Possible secondary 3 here…any functional purse for me must have an outside pocket for keys, an inside pocket for phone. I’ve been carrying a tote bag recently and because I deplore fishing around, I have several smaller bags for compartmentalizing things like phone charger/headphones; lipstick/nail file/clippers. Reading glasses are in an easily identifiable soft case (T2), pens and lip balm are in a pocket. Sunglasses in an outside pocket. Occasional water bottle is in another side pocket. And the tote bag itself is soft, cleanable polyester, that I can put anywhere and not worry about damage. I love the style of the bag that was being given away, especially the way the handles and top fit the body. Not being a T3, all the studs and zippers aren’t my thing! LOL. Oh, on receipts – I put mine in a zip lock bag when I get to the car, then they’re easy to deal with when I get home. This was a fun show to watch!

  7. PRACTICAL. Definitely most important thing to me. I recently was looking for new bags and 3 caught my attention; fabulous T3 colours, substantial, pockets and compartments and practical. I was between 2 similar ones and ended up choosing the one with more practical zips and pockets; it was a back pack ;). Lol all my sisters agreed on the practicality as well 🙂
I ALWAYS bring a water bottle (and more if I’m gonna be out long) and YES I always have snacks. Mostly nuts and raisins and if I don’t have time to pack any, I throw in anything I can find. I also compartmentalize. If I remember, I put tissues in my bags and bring wipes for when I want to eat and can’t wash my hands. I always bring a notepad and pen. I noticed I take a lot of things or just bulkier things so bigger bags actually suit me better but they always get heavy (especially from the water bottle). My phone has to be easily accessible. LOL I’m not a mother but I’ve held 2 baby cousins like that before. I also relate to what you all said about taking a small/ light bag or even better nothing if I only need a phone a some money I can just put in a pocket!

  8. Ha ha!! The give-away bag, you know what that looks like?? Don’t be offended now! Just cut off the bottom and sew it in cloth instead of leather. And it will be the Perfect Bra for holding K plus size breasts!! 🙂

  9. Having iived in Manhattan for many decades our purses serve as our cars…we carry EVERYTHING in them! Hard on the shoulders at times so cross-body bags take some of the pressure off.

  10. What fun! My bag is like the “One Fine Day” bag and far less organized than Carol’s. We T3’s are “gear gals” and I like having all my gear with me-including food! Today I found a single serving pouch of Madras Lentils, and a bag of walnuts. This was in addition to my lunch box containing an entree salad and an apple with Tajin seasoning for dipping!
