Have you been waiting for the start of the year to get serious about your health and fitness goals?
It’s common for people to use the new year as a fresh start to switch up their lifestyle and habits. As a Type 4, you pride yourself in being your own authority so you can do these things the right way.
But, sometimes your gift of perfecting can hold you back and keep you stuck in analysis paralysis. You tend to have an “all or nothing” approach to life, so when you go all in, you may focus too much on the data and details that it eventually knocks you off balance into the “nothing” category for your health.
That’s the last thing you want.
If you are a Type 4 woman who is ready to finally see a lasting change in your fitness and nutrition, take the time to really read on. We’ve put together this thorough guide to help you get started, and actually stick with it this time.
When you know yourself well, you’ll know how to get the results you want.
Let’s talk about the Type 4 woman and how you can optimize your food and fitness true to your Type!
Type 4 energy is bold, constant, and still.
You move through life, easily staying on track with what is important to you, and reaching your goals no matter what.
Remember, the more you allow yourself to approach diet and fitness with your natural movement, the more successful you will be.
It’s essential for you to be your own authority and to approach everything in your life with this mentality. Diet and fitness are no different, and you’ll feel more confident when you tap into your authoritative nature.
Out of all the 4 Energy Types, you are the most innately gifted with structure and exactness. But with this black-and-white nature, you’ll also face some challenges…
Let’s talk about some helpful solutions to these challenges:
Challenge #1: Analyzing which program, diet, or plan is best
You have an analytical and logical mind, so when it comes to making decisions, you take in all of the information first so you can see the big picture. But this is where you could get hung up on all of the details and never get started.
But when you know you have this tendency ahead of time, it’s easier to turn it around. Instead of getting stuck, focus on the fact that your precise nature will guide you to be successful in health and fitness.
Solution: Play on your strengths and find a purpose.
You thrive when you have a purpose. Make it your purpose to perfect your health and fitness. If you feel like something you’re doing is pointless, replace that activity or exercise with one that helps you feel accomplished.
A bonus tip: you have what it takes to excel in competition. Playing team sports or competing against others is fulfilling and allows you to perfect strategies and workout programs.
Challenge #2: Not getting a variety of nutrients due to eating the same foods repeatedly.
Many Type 4’s eat the same thing on a regular basis, due to their love of structure. Although this makes things simple and easy, it doesn’t provide the different nutrients your body needs.
Solution: Incorporate a better balance into your diet.
For starters, make sure you’re taking a good multivitamin.
Rather than eating the same thing over and over, try freezing some of your leftovers and eating them a different week. Doing this will benefit you in more ways than one. You will have prepared meals on hand at any time and get a variety of nutrients to help you function at your best.
Look into meal planning so you can have healthy ideas, and nutritious meals, ahead of time.
Challenge #3: Not getting variety in your workout program
Since you thrive with linear movement and repetition, you typically find yourself doing the same workout routine over and over. On the one hand, this is great! As a Type 4, you can get away with less variety than other Types and still see results. If you feel like you’re receiving benefits from your program, continue doing what you’re doing.
But if you’ve plateaued or your goal is not being met, that’s a good indication it’s time to change some things.
Solution: Make simple adjustments—when and if it’s needed!
Keep it simple. Change just a few exercises from your routine or switch to a different mode of cardio you haven’t been doing. Making a few changes will give your body the added stimulus it needs and allow you to stay on track.
A small change can help lead to big results. This is your best way to approach variety.
Challenge #4: Being too rigid and/or getting off track.
Type 4’s may have it the easiest when it comes to consistency. If you have a workout or nutrition plan you trust, you’ll be able to stick with it on a regular basis. But because of your bold, constant nature, you could slip into rigidity and not give yourself a break, even when you need rest or a day off.
On the other hand, when you go off track, you tend to go off in a big way.
Solution: Be flexible with what’s best for YOU, not the program.
Know that there may be days you’ll need to miss your workout or indulge a little outside of your nutrition plan, especially if your immune system is not at its best or if a different priority has to come first.
Even though you feel things have to be all or nothing, know that every other day will be better for you than none at all.
Remember: it’s ok to miss a day here and there without compromising your results. But if you fall so off track that you can’t seem to create the structure that you need, meet with a personal trainer to get you going again.
Now that you’re filled with all this Type 4 knowledge, you’re more than ready to make clear goals and see results with your food and fitness goals this year!
