  1. This is super important to remember. I always get so hung up on making sure it’s the right color that I don’t pay much attention at all to the other elements. Maybe I would love the stuff more if it was more type 1 :).

    1. That sounds like me when I started DYT, I was so happy to find something with a T1 color, I forgot to pay attention to the other elements. 🙂 I still tend to pick items that are too heavy, esp in winter. I grew up with the idea that my clothing had to be thick and heavy to be warm enough.

  2. Oh genius. I notice in the summer/warm climate when layering is not an option I have to make sure each item (top and bottom) has as many elements as possible–all 5 for a sundress. When it is hot jewelry and hair become even more crucial to add more elements. I’m wearing the cherry top shown today and even though it is a 5 out of 5 with a red cardigan it brings it way up. If it wasn’t so warm here I would add the poodle vest for more texture.

  3. I thought you were going to say the most important is color. So the lightness of the fabrication is also a must if you want to feel “light and bright”–makes sense! Accessories, hair, makeup would be helpers to bring the look together along with the facial features, the movement, and a friendly full-faced smile–wow! What a fun formula for us women who bring light to the world!

  4. If everything in the store is 3 out of 5, then can someone explain to me what the 3 elements are in the t-shirts and in the cardigans that don’t look like they have texture, pattern or fabrication? I have a DYT t-shirt and am wondering how to add to it but need to know what elements it already expresses. Also, does heathering count as pattern, or does it depend on the contrast of the heathering? And when Jilea talks about waffling in her jacket, what does that mean? Final question: how much do jewelry, shoes and bag play in my outfit. If I had a 3 out of 5 shirt and a 3 out of 5 pants, but neither had texture or pattern, would my jewelry, bag and shoes with texture and pattern be good enough? Or is it preferrable to have those elements in your clothes?

    1. In one of the video’s, I can’t remember which one, we mention that a basic T could not have more than 2 elements. Remembering the formula is for the entire outfit, so if you have a T as your top, you’ll want to add at least 1-3 more elements in your outfit to make it more true to Type. Same goes for a cardigan.
