  1. Does your natural red hair color (what it looked like when you were about 8 years old) indicate type at all? Thanks so much for this video; it’s easy to think that all redheads are Type 3s.

    1. It definitely could be an indicator. We suggest looking back at photos from childhood to find clues of your Energy Type. Hair color would be included as well as facial features.

  2. Oh yay!!!! Thank you so much for doing this video Nicole! Its so great to seeing so many examples. Really love my natural red hair but so great seeing what else I can do too xx

  3. Thank you. As a type 2 who just went red, let me suggest that instead of saying dusted red, blended. I have very pale skin and light brown eyes and I have now a muted, blended auburn/copper that looks great and harmonizes with my type 2 colors. I like the photo as a summer option of a blonder look.

  4. I would love to see more Type 3 hairstyles for long hair. I want to be natural in my hair color (red), and the texture is pretty fine which makes it look thin with too many layers. Could definitely use some inspiration!

  5. I’m a type 2 natural redhead and found this very helpful. Thanks! I wonder if, in future videos, the examples of different hair colors could be true to that type. For example, Christina Hendricks is used in both type 1 and type 4 here. I do understand that you’re talking about her hair color and not saying that she herself is one type or the other, but I’d actually find it really helpful if you did! I’d love to use these videos to better understand profiling, too.

      1. I think it also might be helpful to see more photos of natural redheads and their types in the future as opposed to dyed redheads. I know that’s nearly impossible to do and that this video was mostly to help women dye their hair if they want to go red. However, since it’s pretty hard to dye hair a natural red color, this video was kind of confusing for me as a natural redhead.

        1. Great suggestion Ellen, and as you shared not easily done when we do not have access to photograph natural redheads of each Type! Although if there is a will there is a way. I will mention to Anne this idea.

          1. If you are ever need of a Type 2 natural redhead to use as an example, I’d be happy to help. 🙂 (my hair is a “dusty” strawberry blonde)

          2. I’m a natural type 2 redhead also but I’m not sure my hair has a dusty quality. I’ve always had a lot of natural highlights and been described as strawberry blonde. This was a really interesting video! Ty!

    1. Thanks for the suggestion. It can be challenging to find the hair that represents the Type that is actually on the person of that Type. We do our best, but when it comes down to it we choose to represent the hair color, cut and style first. I’m glad this video was helpful for you.

      1. Red hair/ fair skin does not look good in all colors. It would be helpful to show the colors in each Type that are best for natural redheads. Thank you.

        1. Corinne, thank you for this suggestion. We will share it with Carol and our team of experts. May you have a most blessed day!

        2. Interestingly, each Type colors look great for all women of that Type regardless of hair color and skin color! I’ve seen it over and over. We welcome more natural redheads to volunteer for our LiveMakeover series!!

          1. Great! How does one volunteer? I’m Type 4/1 (I think) with curly red hair that is starting to fade (I’m 47), and I’m afraid there’s so way around dying it and straightening it to fit with Type 4 🙁

          2. You need to watch on my Facebook.com/caroltuttle page for the monthly broadcast that invites women to enter their submission. You have to be willing to cover all of your travel expenses if you are chosen. There are several hundred submissions each month. Thanks for your interest. You can also send us a before and after of your own and we often feature those on my Facebook page.

  6. Can you please do a video for us older ladies who are graying? Could you please show us how each type grays and the shades or tints or pattern or whatever is prominent for each type? That would be super interesting! Thanks… 🙂

  7. Thank you for this great video! I’m a type 1/4 and my hair is a very cool brown. Does that mean dyeing it a warm colour would actually express my energy better than my natural colour? Or does everyone’s natural colour suit them? I’d assume the latter but would love to hear an expert opinion.

    1. Great question:) My natural hair color is an ash brown, this gives me the opportunity to choose something different if I want:) I realize that I don’t love my natural color as much, so I choose to warm up my color and I really love the way it works with my make-up and everything else I’m choosing to wear. However, many women keep their natural color and really enjoy it. It’s personal preference and it’s your opportunity to choose:)

  8. Thank you Nicole! You do an excellent job in your videos. I’m a type 4/1 and am going to dye my hair a saturated copper. (Similar to the first type 4 picture). My stylist cautioned me to wear “autumn” colored clothes and makeup once we finish the process. Obviously, I’m going to wear type 4 colors instead but I am worried about looking like a clown. Any suggestions?

    1. Great question! Remember that hair is like an accessory:) It is meant to compliment the whole look. Therefore, when choosing to go a bit more bold with the “hair accessory” then maybe go a little more simple with the jewelry or make-up. This is a good place to start, by wearing smaller or more simple jewelry and make-up, then work into something bigger and more of a statement. Pay attention to your intuition and what feels correct. You’ll be just fine:) You’re going to rock that red hair:)

  9. The T1 second from the left is my natural color, now. When I was younger it was a blonder version of the one on the far right. Love my natural T1 red hair. 🙂
