How Shoes Can Make or Break Your Type 2 Outfit

Have you ever created a beautiful outfit but had trouble finding the right shoes?

If you’re like Anne you might be tempted to put on those old reliable and super comfortable shoes. You know, the same ones you use to wash the car?

Well, you don’t have to sacrifice comfort to keep the flowing connection going all the way down to your feet.

Anne will teach you how to find comfortable and beautiful shoes.

Also, if you’re hesitant to say bye-bye to your black shoes, get inspired to take the plunge. Replace them with something equally as comfortable in your Type 2 tones and you can’t go wrong.

(If you have special needs due to issues with your feet, Carol recommends the Vionic brand of shoes. Vionic offers sporty, casual, and dress shoes for all Types.)

What are your favorite shoes? Are you holding on to some that you don’t wear because they’re not comfy? Share in the comments!

  1. Anne, I love your videos! I love the details you take time and care to put together. I just ordered the orange laces Jambu shoes from another video and am excited to try them. These flowered Jambus are really cute! I have enjoyed my Sketcher Go Walk shoes. They are nice and lightweight and I wear them even at the theme park all day and my feet never hurt. Also like Bob’s shoes. They are very comfy but not for a long day of walking. Also some of the Bob’s have more of a soft sole( can be slippy) and others more rubbery and nonslip, I noticed. I try to wear a footie sock inside my shoes so my shoes don’t get smelly inside. I’m going to donate the uncomfy pairs I have now! Thanks! P.S. You have terrific balance getting your shoes off and on with your precious bundle!!!

    1. Maggie, I almost fell over a few times while changing shoes! Haha! Thanks for sharing your shoe recommendations. 🙂

  2. I like my flip flops! I have two pair- from J. Crew and from Havianas. One pair is so scuzzy I can’t wear them out of the house 🙁 The other pair are new and I can wear them out! Both pair are neutral metallic color.

  3. Great video!! Comfort is so key for me especially with shoes. For my birthday I went to Easy Spirit outlet and bought 7 pairs lol. It’s time to retire some of my old favorites. Messy, worn out shoes really wreck an outfit. All my new shoes are flats, so the shopkeep gave me a cute shoebag that says “I wear flats because I can stand tall on my own.” Cute. The pair below I bought in blush and silver – super comfy.

    1. Haha! Mary Ellen, what a cute saying! I’m not much of a “heel girl”, but Michelle always has so many amazing heels I’m inspired to branch out!

  4. I’ve refashioned many black shoes with Michelle’s help. The leather paint she shared is amazing and covers so easily. I have navy and pewter paint colors. I’ve even mixed then to get a shimmery grayed blue! I’m going out today to try on, and hopefully get these Jambu sandals with a floral heel! Haven’t decided on the color.

    1. Lori, I’m so happy to hear that you’ve had such good success with refashioning! Those Jambus are really cute. I haven’t tried those on before.

    2. I have also refashioned several shoes thanks to Michelle, my first shoes I did for the experience prepared for failure which did not happen considering there are so much helpful information. Plus, if I discover I don’t like the color I created, I’ll change it. 🙂 I have had a pair of shoes like these for the past two years, in my closet that I “secretly” loved, I never wore them out much then but they have received their fair wear since March.

  5. I had a pair of Alegria flip flops that were the most comfortable I’ve ever worn. Unfortunately most of their other shoes have black soles. Also have a pair of gray Cushie mary janes that are so comfortable. I prefer Planetshoes.com over Zappos. You can earn points plus they have a lot of promotions.

  6. It’s hard to find narrow width shoes. Cobb Hill and Propet are brands that usually work for me. I love my Propet Kate loafers in dove gray (shown here in blue). At first I thought they were going to be rigid and uncomfortable but very quickly they become favorites. For spring and summer, I love my Cobb Hill Ireland sandals in pewter. I also just got a pair of Keen Clearwater CNX sport sandals for a beach vacation.

  7. I just got a pair of Vionic sandals and they are heaven for my sore feet!! I love that they also make inserts for your current, but not so supportive, shoe-loves. 🙂

  8. My favorite find pre-summer was the Earth wedges in tan that I found online while searching for the right summer shoes to use up a $50 off $100 coupon I had. These shoes are like a bootie wedge with a peek a boo toe opening. They feel like a comfy pair of tennis shoes. Later I discovered them in the Type 2 style finder.
