Words paint pictures in our lives. Each word carries a meaning and reference that can be either positive, negative, or neutral. In the world of Energy Profiling, words also represent a quality of movement, an expression of our true selves.
We come into this world expressing one of four primary movements, or Energy Types. How our parents and others respond to us with their words will determine whether we love our true nature or are led to believe we need to change it.
As a young child, I was led to believe my energy and movement were too much, too loud, too aggressive, even defiant. Each of those words, too loud, aggressive, and defiant all had shaming references and created the belief that I needed to change who I was. Since learning and living true to my Energy Type, I now have been able to change the shaming labels to positive labels: too loud = passionate, aggressive = assertive, defiant = determined.
How your Type 2 keywords can help you heal
The primary keywords for a Type 2 person are soft and subtle, which refers to your natural expression of calming and soothing the energy wherever you go.
It’s common for Type 2’s to be told in their childhood and even into their adult years, “You are too shy, too sensitive, you need to speak up, you’re too emotional.”
But I want Type 2 women to see what this really means: shy = inward, too sensitive = caring, speak up = gentleness, too emotional = big-hearted.
In my book, It’s Just My Nature, I included a Word Portrait for each Energy Type. It was important for me to put together this list, so you too could heal the shame-based references you took on as a child.

As I teach in It’s Just My Nature, if you’re still not certain about your Energy Type, reflect on the Word Portraits for each Type. If you feel a certain Energy Type speaking to you, yet your Body Profile does not match it, look for similar words on the Word Portrait sheet that do match your Body Profile.
Our bodies consistently express our dominant Energy Type when our personalities may vary from this expression. I say, go with what your body tells you, rather than your personality. As you trust this and allow yourself to be the Energy Type your body tells you that you are, you will see qualities emerge that are truly you, qualities that you actually expressed earlier in your life.
