How to Live True to Yourself When You Didn’t as a Child

Were you raised by parents who were different Energy Types than you?

Did you grow up feeling like you had to act in a certain way to get the things you wanted?

I’m joined by Tuesday, a stunning Type 4 woman from a recent #LiveMakeover, to talk about what she’s done over the years to give herself permission to live true to herself. Listen to her story about how Dressing Your Truth has supported her discovery of what is correct for her—both inside and out.

  1. She is great! I, too, was raised in an extroverted family and I feel like I’ve spent sooo much time trying to “fix” me, to fit in what I was supposed to be, specially socially… The patterns go on still today when I’m with my family.

  2. I love this!! As a type 1 I feel sick and sad when I don’t participate and have fun at parties-In high school I would kind of sit back and/ or hide and I didn’t feel good! Oppostites 🙂

  3. One of the many reasons I love watching these videos is that I always learn something new about each type. This really helps me understand my family so much better and why they do certain things differently than me. Carol said to Tuesday “You observed what others were doing, and then you applied what you observed- that’s so type four!” This explains why my mother and mother in law go into so much detail telling me about other people’s lives and goings on… I can’t get over how much detail they observe about other people! I just don’t notice that stuff AT ALL- I’m totally in my own little world.

This video (plus the ones on expressing anger) are teaching me that there are certain groups of people with whom it is safe to be your true self and express your true and honest feelings- and then there’s certain groups where it is not safe to do so. My inner guidance always lets me know if it’s safe to speak up- and I’m getting better at listening to my inner guidance. If I am in a situation with family members who are stuck in the past and want to bring up old issues- I take Carol’s advice and go into “mirror woman” mode and just sit and reflect the negativity back to those who are projecting it outward. That is a helpful tip that has gotten me out of some sticky situations…. and it has kept me from getting sick as well!

  4. I love being socially. but I’ll get sick if it’s too much. After a party I need peace and quiet.Tuesday and I have many similarities. I love this video – very helpful! 🙂

  5. Tuesday is just stunning and absolutely delightful! I love her laugh! I’m a T1 but I, too, need to rest and recharge after being social.

  6. I love the reminder that life is about practicing! And learning from our experiences. Thank you, Tuesday, you are stunning!

  7. This video is so helpful! I definitely identify with Tuesday’s experience. I’m a 4/1 also who was raised by a T1 mom and T3 dad. Thank you for posting this!

  8. I’m a newly discovered T4 who went to college at 16, too! Wow! I can’t believe I ever thought I was any other type, haha. I loved everything about this video. Thanks for sharing your experience. 🙂

    1. Me too! My Dad gave me a choice to get a job for the summer or go to school, so I picked taking a college course. Then when I went back to high school in 11th grade, my guidance counselor told me about a program where you could complete your senior year at the community college and I did that as well. Best experience of my life.
