    1. Yes, thank you because for awhile I couldn’t find it on the old blog. Would love to see more 3/4, 4/3 videos!!

  1. I’m so excited for this video! My 4 tends to take over my dominant type 3, especially on projects. I get so focused I will forget to eat and despite tapping my feet like crazy won’t go to the restroom until I feel I’m in a good stopping place where I can easily and quickly pick back up. I also stop and take care of things as I notice them. Empty toilet paper tube anyone? But then my 3 swiftly flies in, gets the job done and moves on. I love it.

  2. This was great. I really struggled for a long time trying to figure out whether I was 3 or 4 dominant. It seemed to me that I was a Type 4 dominant and I would vacillate back and forth between 3 and 4. Growing up, I was classified as a Winter and so all of my clothes were very bright and stark. I absolutely love the Type 4 clothing style. I am very businesslike and want everything tailored. I would gravitate toward the colors on the Type 3 pallet and tell myself I wouldn’t look good in them. I read the book, took the various “tests” to determine my Type, and finally decided to put it to the test. The way I discovered I was a Type 3 dominant was through trying on clothing, especially “church dress”. I found a number of colors and styles in both Type 3 and Type 4. What I found was although I identify more with the Type 4 style and cut, I felt a change in the way I felt when I used the Type 3 colors with Type 4 style. Type 4 I felt empowered and strong, like I could take on the world and great, but very rigid and a little cold. When I put the Type 3 colors on with the Type 4 style, I felt those same feelings, but I came alive and could be strong and empowered with warmth. I don’t know if this makes sense. I have since watched what I gravitate to in other areas and even though my Type 4 is so domineering sometimes I still question, I feel more whole and positive when I allow my Type 3 to dominate and recognize my Type 4 and its energy.

  3. I would like you to talk about the extrovert-introvert aspect. I typed me at first as a type 4 just because I do not have the need of joining other people. I like to be on my own and networking is the worst I know! I feel totally drained after such occasions. But after I read the books I come to think that this may be because I learned that I can push forward more easily by doing things on my own? I’m not sure… But I know I’m more a type 3 an 4 by other aspects. And my face is definitely a type 3….

    1. If your face is definitely a Type 3, then that is the winning vote of which Type you are!

  4. I really appreciate this series! In this one, Carol and Megan really punctuate the different powers of 3/4 and 4/3.

    1. I agree. There aren’t very many profiling tools for the 4/3, which I’m leaning towards right now. I do see a lot of me in Megan. I even own that same shirt, lol. Purchased prior to my DYT journey.

  5. I tend to be too blunt. I see things black and white; and I don’t like to beat around the bush. This can be difficult where I live, as lots of folks here have a long story for every occasion.

    1. Long stories are the worst – I have a tendency to wave my hands at my husband to signal “hurry it up, get to the point”. I try to be more aware and take deep breaths when this is happening now.

  6. Wow! I was riveted as you both shared your 3/4 4/3 combinations. I’m a 3/4 (I believe) and Carol HIT IT ON THE HEAD! I pull the weed, too. In fact, the other day, my son was laughing at me because he drove by the house and saw me mowing the lawn at 7:30pm in my work clothes. “Mom, don’t you change into your grubby clothes to mow??” “NO! I’d worn the clothes all day, it was getting close to dark, and the lawn needed to be cut!” He said, “all you needed were your high heels and the ensemble would have been complete!” I’m still laughing. I LOVE being a 3/4. I’m often “in trouble” with my 2/4 husband because he takes a very long time to deliberate on EVERYTHING. I make decisions NOW and go with it.

    1. Ha! I have come home from work in heels and skirt and shoveled the whole driveway because it just had to get it done – if I went inside I knew something else would draw my attention and I’d get that done and it would be too late to do the drive! I do love the 3 push!

    2. I myself, am not sure if I’m more of a T3 or T4… and I also have a husband who’s a 2/4. Lol, I loved how you commented about his taking forever to decide things, and you deciding and getting it done.
My husband and I are the same way.

  7. I have recently realized my 4/3 nature. Years ago when I joined and got my Type 4 pack, I thought I was a 4/1. And I was needing to allow more spontaneity into my life because the 1-ness in me was needing to be expressed, so I have gotten my 1-ness in balance and have noticed a fire within that I have recognized and many moments throughout my life have been this way. When something needs to get done, I am very focused and do what it takes to get the job done, and I do it quickly and intensely. When I am finished with a job I am ready to do something else, but if I do not have something right away, I become exhausted and need to rest or even sleep. I’ve realized that is my Type 4 needing to calm right down and ponder and reflect on what I have done, but the type 3 in me feels so accomplished and I feel very good.

  8. I believe I am dominant 3, secondary 4. Can I get away with wearing black pants for example?

      1. You may have misunderstood me Patricia, as Type 4’s look stunning in black! I teach that a dominant Type 4 can wear black. Patricia and Sarah do you own the DYT course? It will answer all your questions and many more you didn’t know you had! Thanks for your comments.

    1. Can I observe — when dealing with interior spaces, it isn’t realistic to get stark white or stark black flooring. What other neutrals would you suggest? My preference is for natural or gray tones that have a red, purple, or blue undertone — something more cool than warm — to set off the bold pop of color in the sofa or the art. A pure gray looks good with those pure colors, too. What do you suggest?

  9. I’m so glad this video was posted here. This combination resonates more with me than any other. As I hear Megan explain her energy combination challenges, it’s as if she’s describing me perfectly. When Carol explains how her T3/4 movement shows up in her life, it speaks strongly to me as well.

So, it seems as if it’s just a matter of figuring out what my dominant really is and which is the secondary. I frown a lot… That seems to be the only indication of a T3 movement on my face besides my eyebrows, which come to a triangular peak over my pupils. Everything else on my face is small, polished… My makeup-artist daughter calls my without-makeup complexion “flawless”. I indicated in another post today (on the “Real Women Before & Afters”) that as a child, teen and young adult I was described as “too serious”, “too shy”, “too quiet”. I was always asked, “Why don’t you smile?” “Why don’t you join us for play?”, etc, etc. To me, I was only choosing not to engage with others unless I felt comfortable to do so. Hmm…

When my kids were born, it seems as if the T3 in me just went wild. Nevertheless, juggling a million things at once has drained me and as of late, I feel my best when I am simply still, reading a great book and taking my time to do things my way. My house is decorated entirely T3 with some secondary T4 elements. My husband’s main description of me usually is, “She wants everything to be done perfectly right NOW.” Poor thing… He’s a T2 and probably has suffered so much because of it 🙂

My question: Could a T4/3 have the youthful appearance of a T1? Because that’s the course I purchased based on my facial features (small, slightly upturned nose, younger looking than actual age, a bit of gum showing when I smile, etc.)

    1. Excellent question about the T1 features that I also see in myself. After a full year of reading and wondering, now I am pretty sure I am T4 and assumed T1 had to be secondary (because of my youthful appearance, small hands, upturned nose), but too much still doesn’t fit with T1.

I’m wondering if T3 is my secondary in spite of strong T1 looks. I would love to hear from the experts. (My husband is T2 also and is fond of saying “perfect is the enemy of the good” so it feels good to think that bringing excellence into the world is one of my greatest strengths.)

  10. I’ve heard that a 2/3-3/2 combo could be called ‘sultry’ – what would a 3/4 4/3 combo we called? What one or two words would you say?

  11. I continue to be stumped! I see myself equally as a 3 (more in asymmetrical facial features and posture) and 4 (thought processes, interaction with the world, energy levels, focus). i thought this video would help me determine whether I am a 4/3 or a 3/4 but I’m even more confused now. I know that Carol emphasizes facial features and body language over personality to determine type but I have watched all the facial profiling videos and find that I often don’t see the characteristics that are being pointed out, or I see something else (that looks more like a heart to me, or, her eyes slope down like a 2 so how can she be a 3?, etc). I’m frustrated. 🙁

    1. Hi, Laurel. Don’t know if you’ll see this, because it was a while ago that you posted. Just want to say that I read what you wrote, and looked at your picture, and my non-expert opinion is that you’re a Type 4. The fact that you say your energy levels and way of interacting with the world and thought processes are more Type 4, that was a big part. But also, just looking at your photo, I see more of the parallel lines than deep lines and texture. I don’t know if this helps you, but thought I’d just let you know, as I was watching this video and wanted to help if I can! B

      1. Thank you, Bettina, I do appreciate your input but I have given up and moved on, feeling too much like a square peg trying to fit into a round hole. 🙂

  12. Megan IS ME!! I do not know how or why, but since I have not been digging deep enough for material over the last year with DYT, I thought I was a T1. I could watch this clip ALL DAY LONG!! Anyway does Megan have a bellydancing side business? I would love to know more about how DYT works with employment/business and even in marriage? It is possible I am married to a 1/2… Still it is not easy we are so compatible, but I have had to do so much energy work and continue to bc of a traumatic childhood. My husband did not have as much trauma, but he had some difficult circumstances as well. I defaulted to T1 because dealing with so much pain I figured the only way I got through it was being “optimistic” etc. What I was really doing was an immense amount of exercising and journaling until I gained a religous preference that felt right and now I have library of ways to cope.

  13. I must be a type 4/3. “It has to be perfect, and it has to be perfect, now.” “Perfect immediately” I’m glad I’m not crazy. I Wonder how a 4/1 would react to it.

  14. Carol, I loved this video so much! My mom is a 3/4, and I’m a 4/1. Growing up, my mom and I were always clashing, and I now I feel like I understand her so much better!

  15. This confused me. I have so much type 3 in my body language and I was always a very hands on child (proudly tore off the wallpaper, picked up and shook the yorkie when in my walker, and was always climbing out of the playpen), and I was very tomboyish and adventurous. My thought patterns and sometimes my body language are type 4 too. My room was never clean though. It seemed like such a waste of time to clean it. I don’t know if this means I’m not a type 3/4 or a 4/3 or not.

  16. This is the first time watching this, I stopped at 3/1 1/3 because that is so me. I saw you posted this on the makeover where are they now show on Nov 9th and decided to watch.
Carol is it possible to have a secondary and a truciary (sp?). That war with each other. I’m pretty firm with my t3, but I flip back and forth from 1 and 4 as my secondary. I can be theatrical and shrug off stuf forget where I put stuff and I see myself all the time as the 3/1 lady. Then I have the other side were I can be just like you in this video, where I can focus so hard and have to remember to move. I can level something without a leveler and then my husband tests it and it’s always with in the middle circle and only need to tap move it to be centered. THen i’m done with it. The string on the pants i’d just get sizzors if I really like the pants or by nature rip it off if it bugged me. I posted a picture on my t3 page. I was at walmart before halloween and saw a blood necklace and snapped a picture with my me making a face. Everyone of the woman asked in the post ‘and you question your 3/1?’ I Still go flop flop or is that just level of confort?

    1. Hello Teya, Yes, it is possible that the other energies that support your dominant nature will appear to be competing for your secondary. We are made up of all four energies in different degrees and the three supportive energies will be present and may also be influenced by your upbringing and outside influences affecting the comfort level you have with each Energy Type. If you are a member of Lifestyle, we recommend viewing the ‘I don’t like my Type’ video series. Thank you for the question and your support!

  17. This one has been difficult for me. Some days, I know I am a 3/4, others a 4/3! I am also, incredibly sensitive and empathetic person. I am truly just struggling with this. I had a very traumatic childhood. My personality was completely rejected. I went to a very rigid religious schools as the only of my race, so fitting in was the only way to survive it. I know that I have developed strengths from it, but

  18. I would love to see more videos with Megan in them. Any chance that would be coming up any time in the future?

At first I thought she was a 4/1 with her youthful appearance, but it’s interesting to see her as a 4/3. With that I was wondering (as it’s been a year since the video and remember Michelle thought she was a 2/1 for a long time) if she still resonates as a 4/3?

  19. Goodness, I still can’t decide if I’m more of a 4/3, or a 3/4. I’m both of you guys! Even my facial profiling doesn’t help.

  20. Gosh, she has extremely high level of movement to the point it’s unbearable to watch her, it’s not type 1. She is loud, talk too much and couldn’t stay still for a second.

  21. Now that I’ve watched all the videos in this series, this is the combination that resonates with me the most. I believe I am a 4/3, since I identified so closely with Megan. My movement and focus and energy very closely mirror what she said. Only thing is, I get mixed signals from my face! A few people in the Facebook groups think I’m 3/4 or 3/2. I watched the 2/3 and 3/2 videos and could not relate. Still on this journey, but getting closer, thanks to this one video! Thank you!

  22. This video has confirmed my belief that I am a 4/3. The past month or so have been exhausting for me as I soul-searched what my type was. I have thoroughly analyzed each type and each combination of types. While I am overall a happy person, I am deeply reflective and the analytic process plays itself out and can even repeat over and over. My type 3 tries to dominate by demanding results NOW. But eventually my persistent type 4 wins and the reflection starts again. This is the sticky side of this combination. But I am so thankful to have it! I love that I analyze things over and over. I love that I am driven by results. I am not lazy. I just pick and choose what things I want to do based on the given results. The things I do apply my attention to are excellent. They are done perfectly to my standards. Now I know why I’m so passionate, often times angry and yell at my kids when the demands are not met. (They are 3/4 and 4/1) It is humbling to know these things and how I can improve. As a mom (who homeschools), I have the drive, passion and resolve to give my family the best. I just have to be reminded that: love fuels the thoughts, which then jumpstart the action, resolution and reflection. Wow. I can finally breathe! I am a strong woman and I’m so grateful for that.

  23. Awesome clip! I’m a 4/3, but led for years with my 3. Had 6 children, earned a Master’s, worked multiple jobs, adopted a child internationally, was an assistant principal, and constantly pushed forward (especially when I was told I couldn’t / shouldn’t), but I ended up having health issues, one being fibro. Everything in my life was leopard print..from clothing to home decor. There was this perfecting/ editing side of me…my true type 4, which I have struggled with, but allows me the permission to be myself safely. I require stillness and solitude. I cannot push forward as my primary. I love Carol’s reference to her book and editing. I am almost done with writing a book and the editing has been the hardest part as I am perfecting to a T. When i get focused on my book for hours, my kids know I will barely talk…little grunts and acknowledgments here and there…this is why I work when they sleep sometimes, plus the still night and early morning give me the stillness I need to create without interruptions. I appreciate both of your honesty. As a mom I was never warm and fuzzy or cuddly and was ashamed to share that publicly. I had 5 sons which made it easier for me to be me, but I am certain my cool, aloof, bold, and demand for immediate and perfect world was rough on them at times, especially my older 3..and especially my t2 son, who required cuddles. We were constantly on the go and I pushed forward like an engine privately. When I adopted my daughter, it was new territory. I had to reassess myself. I wanted to be a soft 2 or a fun 1 in order to make others happy and comfortable….be a more feminine role model, but I now know if I am not true to myself, then that is the farthest thing from being a role model. Still learning. Growing up, for me, did not allow me to be a 4/3…no way…I was totally surrounded by combos of 3s and 4s (parents/siblings)…I believe I then survived by being a 2/1 or 1/2. Any time my 4/3 would emerge I was punished and shamed for sure…even rejected and abandoned as an adult as I became my own authority. I was allowed to be a 4/3 around my grandmother, who I know was a 4/3. She encouraged it, praised it, and honored it, especially before her passing last year. Feeling that void this year as she was the only person I could be myself around in my extended family without fear of rejection or punishment. Being a 4/3 is a learning experience, for me, in being “safe” and accepting myself. Doing the breathing, study, affirmations, and now onto a makeover soon to incorporate my S3. Need the strength to get past fears of that hurdle, but this clip inspires me.

  24. Exactly what I am experiencing right now, 4/3, Megan, do I understand what you are saying! This is very new to me, just realized a month ago I am T4/S3 after over 6 months of going by T2/S4. I am on the way to knowing me, accepting and respecting who I am. A great journey, lot’s of learning. Thanks for the info!

  25. Thank you, ladies, for an awesome video! I had to smile, with Carol’s comment about breaking her focus with a ten minute exercise routine or a walk. I am a T3 (a 3/1 actually, but watching this with my mom, who’s a 4/3), and a writer. I always, always break my writing day with ten minute exercise routines, or (when a big chunk has gotten done), a walk in the outdoors! SO great to know another T3 does exactly the same thing! Kudos for the great work helping us to understand ourselves and each other so much more.

  26. Wow this is resonating with me the most!! I was thinking I might be a 4/3. One because I absolutely love the type 3 clothing and I am a 4 in so many ways too. I keep getting introverted extrovert on personality tests! This makes sense! To mix the clothing, makeup, and hair styles of these two makes alot of sense to me!

  27. I am trying to determine my type. My hang up is this, I connect with a type 4 mind set and aesthetic. However, I am most drawn to the type 3 colors. This is really confusing me. Thoughts anyone?

  28. This video explained so many things for me! Now I know that I am a T4/S3 without doubt. I still have some key Type2 attributes that are essential to my successful performance as a T4 (a fountain of questions, detailed, and expert planner), but my Type 3 energy takes the cake on the strength of its Yang energy.

  29. @disqus_8kjMs6UAMA:disqus – I sooo relate to your “get it done” but also notice the crooked picture or the weed and have to take care of it right then. I’m a T3 with a secondary T4. Now- the organization part has fallen apart for me over the past few years (lost my job due to medical issues). I have been trying for too long to be something I’m not. I have too many pots on the stove and some are burning and some the spoon melted… and some the fire went out. So I have a mess at the moment. I didn’t get into this mess overnight & I know I won’t get out of it overnight- but I really wish I had a fairy god mother that could just fix it so I could move on! I’m brand new to this Energy profile & it’s hard being patient as I am waiting for my kit to come (but it’s only been like 3 days since I signed up). I grew up with “Charlene can’t sit still in class. Stop talking with your hands- sit on your hands.” and other discouraging comments. I’m 53 and just now really figuring it out. I’m scouring thru everything as fast as I can… and now I’m off to clean up my craft table… have a project to do. Thanks so much Carol for this as it’s helping me get back to who I really am.
